Voting Systems

To the Editor of The Inquirer:

Today you have an editorial in which you commiserate New York City on its faulty electoral system. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Possibly New York’s system is a poor one, but Philadelphia’s is infinitely worse. Under it the Democrats, casting about two-fifths of the total vote, elect one member of Council. The Republicans, with three-fifths of the vote, elect 20 members.

What a system!
